‘I’VE HAD ENOUGH’: 17-year-old high school senior on why he’s running for Ohio’s House of Representatives

By Jane Nam

Sam Cao, a senior at Mason High School in Ohio, is running to be the nation’s youngest legislator in history at 17 years old.

If elected, Cao would serve as the District 56 representative in the Ohio House of Representatives, a position that has been held by Rep. Paul Zeltwanger (R, OH-54) since 2015.

Cao is eligible on the ballot as he will be 18 years old by the general election as the Ohio Constitution requires.

In an interview with NextShark, he shares details about his grassroots campaign and why he is running on a platform of “urgency” and “sustainability.”

‚ÄúPeople always focus on presidential elections [but] State House races are just as important,‚Äù he says. ‚ÄúI think there is no better time than to step in right now. Because if we just wait our turn, eight, 10 years down the line, we’re going to have our democracy succumb to fascism, and we’re not going to have a future.‚Äù

Cao assures that his age is a strength, citing anti-Asian hate, fascism and the prospect of not having a future as his motivations for running in this cycle.

‚ÄúWe need people from the future generations that will have to bear this problem for decades to come to step in now,‚Äù he says. ‚ÄúAnd realize that we have to make change, we cannot allow the same people of status quo to stay in power, wait for them to make the change, because they have failed us. And quite frankly, I’ve had enough of it. And so what better than to, you know, join in and just fight the problem yourself.‚Äù

We need more teenagers who want to drop their assumed roles as blind followers, and want to begin leading their communities in new directions.

Even though Mr. Cao will not be elected, his attempt to seize a place of influence within his community will benefit him, and his community, a great deal.

With the support of organizations like Run For Something, young people can step into political spaces and affect real change because people take notice, and, in turn, often expose the bullshit they are perpetuating, when teenagers step into spaces where they supposedly do not belong. Teenagers take notice, and, in turn, cast a light on on the bullshit they’ve been fed, when they step into spaces where they supposedly do not belong.

So, come on SixFinger Kids, get off your asses and show Boomers their days are numbered.

Why in the hell is this not happening every single day in America?

Our airwaves are wide-open to use to disrupt our everyday bullshit and to draw attention to issues and ideas that aren’t getting the mainstream attention they deserve.¬†

No to mention, of course, hacking a radio or television station can be fun too.

At least, that’s what we hear from people who do that sort of thing.

Not us, obviously.

Ever.

AOC says it’s ‘internationally embarrassing’ the US had 288 SCHOOL SHOOTINGS while other G7 countries saw just 5 in the same 10-year period

Embarrassment implies foolishness, self-consciousness, and shame.

America’s leaders feel none of these emotions, especially as it relates to our children’s safety.¬†

Let’s just forget that we setup our kids for target practice at schools, in 2015, approximately four million referrals for alleged maltreatment were made to child protective agencies (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2015). From these, an estimated 683,000 children in the United States were officially documented as having been maltreated.

AOC, and anyone else upset about our crimes against kids stats, ought to quit lamenting, and DO SOMETHING.

Otherwise, shut the fuck up.

Your embarrassment doesn’t mean shit to anyone.

Texas teacher whose 11 students were killed says active shooting training SET THE CHILDREN UP ‘like ducks’ for the shooter

This bullshit is what schools have always do with our kids when an outside threat is perceived: Get’em on the ground!

Why?

Is it easier to find the bodies afterwards?

Can ANYONE think of something new that actually protects kids, or are we just going to continue this game of make believe where crouching and hiding on the floor makes you invulnerable?

A US college is shutting down for good following a RANSOMWARE ATTACK

Just imagine every academic institution being hit with a ransomware attack.

Or, just imagine your school being hit.

What if it wasn’t just a monkey wrench that jammed up workflows and deleted data?

What if the personal information of you school’s officials was taken?

Actually, what if your school was only led to believe (somehow) that it was attacked (but, it actually wasn’t) and personal information of your officials was being “held” for ransom until a drastic change in its policies and practices are made?

Just imagine.

What would it take to convince your dumbass school officials that cyber-boogie men held their social security numbers?

Do you imagine they would loss their shit and do whatever it took to make the bad men go away?

And, just imagine, someone wouldn’t even need to know how to launch a cyber attack to get this result, right?

You’d just have to figure out how to make your officials think they were attacked.

Huh.

Just imagine.

The original Roe v. Wade decision was also LEAKED in 1973 and angered the chief justice so much he threatened staff with lie detector tests

By Mia Jankowicz

Washington, DC, is reeling from Monday’s leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion that appears to show the court ready to overturn Roe v. Wade.

But it’s not the first leak associated with the Supreme Court or the landmark abortion case: The original decision was also leaked five decades ago, infuriating the then-chief justice so much that he threatened clerks with lie detector tests.

In 1973, both Roe v. Wade’s decision and some of its deliberations were leaked to Time magazine and The Washington Post, both of which published articles before the ruling was made public.

Then-Chief Justice Warren Burger was “livid” about the leak, and wrote to all justices demanding that the leaker be found, the lawyer and author James Robenalt wrote in The Washington Post.

He said that if nobody came forward he would demand lie detector tests for the court’s clerks, per Robenalt’s account in The Post.

Leaking information to the public is as American as diabetes, only it’s much, much healthier.
