- More than 45 percent of young adults who stopped attending college because of mental health related reasons did not request accommodations.
- 50 percent of them did not access mental health services and supports either.
- Overall, 40 percent of students with diagnosable mental health conditions did not seek help.
- 57 percent of them did not request accommodations from their school.
- Concern of stigma is the number one reason students do not seek help.
According to Psychology Today:
So now we’re up to a bit over $1 million for mental health treatment and prevention combined, or approximately $70 per student. This is about $1 for every $400 of total institutional expenditures on college students.
According to SFL, having student mental health be a .0025% line item within a university budget is bullshit.
